Volunteers In Policing

Volunteers can assist our department and community by performing duties such as:

  • Parking Enforcement
  • Abandoned Vehicle Checks
  • Traffic Control
  • Vacation House Checks
  • Assisting Disabled Motorists

  • Serving Subpoenas
  • Special Event Assistance
  • Vehicle Transportation
  • Clerical Data
  • and more!

The West Covina Police Department has expanded its volunteer program and is seeking new volunteers of any age. This expanded volunteer program allows citizens to channel their energy back into the community by performing non-hazardous public safety duties on a volunteer basis. This frees up police officers, making them more available to fulfill essential emergency and law enforcement duties in the field. Volunteers work in twoperson teams in fully equipped, marked vehicles, seven days a week, performing duties such as marking abandoned or illegally parked vehicles, conducting vacation house checks for residents, serving subpoenas, issuing parking citations, and more. Since the program’s inception in 1991, West Covina Police Volunteers have volunteered over 170,000 hours, marked over 4,000 abandoned or illegally parked vehicles, performed over 20,000 vacation house checks for residents, served over 100,000 subpoenas, and issued over 30,000 parking citations. If you are a West Covina resident in good physical condition, hold a valid California Driver’s License, and are willing to commit a minimum of 4 hours of volunteer service per week, please call (626) 939-8500 or email us for more information.
