The Records Bureau personnel are responsible for data entry of all police reports into law enforcement databases, the maintenance of police files, and assisting the public.
The Records Bureau is a vital function of the West Covina Police Department in providing service to the community at the public lobby counter and by telephone. In addition to assisting the general public, Records Bureau personnel assist sworn personnel with report management and subpoena oversight.
The California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS) is crucial to the day-to-day operations of the Records Bureau. All personnel must be CLETS certified every two years. The CLETS system must be monitored 24 hours a day and maintains vital records for stolen/stored vehicles, missing persons, missing property, and want/warrant information.
The Records Bureau has a total of 12 employees
(1 records supervisor, 4 senior records specialists, 4 records specialists, and 3 part time clerical assistants).
