The West Covina Police Department will be implementing temporary procedures in response to the current COVID-19 concerns to lessen the exposure risk. Although some changes will be made, the safety of the public has been and will continue to be the priority of the West Covina Police Department; officers will continue patrolling the city and assisting the public.
In accordance with the Governor of California’s decision to cease indoor operations, the West Covina Police Department has decided once again to close the front lobby in order to do our part in slowing the spread of Covid-19. This updated change will go into effect on July 16th, 2020.
As a reminder, certain reports such as, vehicle burglary, vehicle tampering, vandalism, harassing phone calls, forgery, identity theft, lost property, non-injury hit and run, property damage, and theft can still be completed online at www.wcpd.org or by telephone by calling the number 626-939-8500.
Other changes that took effect March 16, 2020 include:
- Non-emergency reports such as forgery, harassing phone calls, identity theft, lost property, non-injury hit and run, property damage, thefts, vandalism, vehicle burglaries, vehicle tampering, or supplemental reports can be completed online here or over the phone by calling 626-939-8500.
- Individuals needing services such as obtaining a copy of a police report or vehicle release can call the WCPD Records division (626-939-8500) to be assisted.
- The station and Records division will increase staffing to assist the public with records inquires and completing telephone reports.
- The WCPD Volunteer and Explorer programs are suspended until further notice to lessen their chances of exposure.
- Vacation House Checks will also be suspended to lessen the chances of exposure of department personnel.
These changes are temporary and will be re-evaluated on November 9, 2020 to ensure the safety of the public and department personnel.

The Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises individuals to do the following to help prevent exposure of transferring COVID-19 to others:
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands
- Wash your hands often with soap for at least 20 seconds or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick and stay home if you are sick yourself, except to get medical care.
- Put distance between yourself and other people (approximately 6 feet).
- Wear a face mask while you are in a public place. If you are sick and face masks are unavailable, cover your coughs and sneezes the best you can.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily.

- Bleach: 5 tablespoons of bleach per gallon of water
- Alcohol solutions/cleaning supplies should have at least 70% alcohol
