Victim advocates are trained to support victims of crime. They offer emotional support, victims’ rights information, and help in finding needed resources. Our advocate frequently accompanies victims and their family members through the criminal justice proceedings. Our advocate works with other organizations, such as criminal justice or social service agencies, to help get information for the victims we serve. Victim advocates’ responsibilities vary depending on the situation but can include the following.

•  Interview the victims, explore safety and financial needs, individual support and referrals to local service agencies

•  A support team designed to assist victims of Domestic Violence as their cases proceed through the criminal justice system

•  Court approved 5 weeks Domestic Violence Classes

•  Domestic Violence education and support classes. Developed for victims of  Domestic Violence who are involved with Children’s Protective Services

•  Support groups created out of the need of former victims of Domestic Violence to have a safe and supportive environment to discuss confidential emotional issues, develop friendships and expand their knowledge on subjects that are of interest to them. 

•  Advocacy with social services, the criminal justice system and other support systems.  

All services are free and offered to women and men.   You are worthy of love and respect, break the cycle of violence.
